Had this situation, i was emotionally attacked and abused by my crazy/druggie sister, and my mom asked me to apologize to her. That's when i "woke up" and set up the wall and boundaries big time. Felt SO good!!

I don't know how the folks saying this is using others think the Pyramids got built or we went to the Moon. Or even survived this long to become the dominant species on the planet. But it's so essential to humanity that we would not even have language if expressing a need were not biologically necessary for survival. Other animals have social structures and ways of communicating.

@@kaitlyn5578 the book Daring Greatly, for example. There's also the Ted Talk "Listening to Shame", also by Brené Brown. And many articles/posts about shame that she has shared online. Perhaps even some podcast episode(s) covering that topic. Hope it helps!

My family grew up with no body image issues, we never talked about our weight, and my parents never brought a focus to their weight either... However my husband's family does ALL THE TIME and i wonder how to breach the subject. It's not important, but they are always focused on it. My husband is always yo yo dieting and changing things up and overeating and doesn't have a good relationship with food. It's so so sad.

So are empaths “made” from being hyper vigilant the majority of their lives or are they born that way & can adapt to hyper vigilance better than others? 🤔 I suppose whatever the answer is , we still have to work on developing healthy boundaries without feeling guilty.

I did this sometimes around my mom when I would give up on trying to communicate maturely. She only tried to do better after I had my fill of her upsetting me for months or years. I’d just give up. Some people are born like rocks and they only get along with similar minds.

I was anorexic and bulimic for many years before i had children. After so sorry miscarriages I finally had a pregnancy that looked like it was going to happen. That's when i realized how selfish i was being. I promised. I would make sure my children didn't go through and hear the things i did when i was young. I made sure from very young age to teach any body is beautiful. How to rat proper. Education is key. Communication as well. ❤❤

I've heard other YT "influencers" refer to "selflessness" as a good thing in a relationship. This is absurd to me. Abandoning the self is the opposite of good mental/emotional health. We're here to be our unique, authentic selves. And in being real, we honor our relationships. We can still have benign compromises in relationships, but not at the expense of giving up crucial needs. A healthy person wouldn't want their friend or spouse to be self-less.

But it's a middle state to change consiousness? You're not dissociating all the time, you do it when changing "personality" just not that extreme but you change something inside when dissociating imo

  • @Leon-ti9bz

I'm dissociated on a low level since my childhood/adolescence. My word is numb, gray, static and flat. I kinda manage to live this way, but I don't know why I'm in this state. This video has helped me realize my problem a little better. I'm gonna send this one to my therapist

I always agree with your videos and you guys are awesome and are the experts! I’ve learned so much from you on my recovery journey, and you’ve helped me out tremendously. I can totally see your point in this video. It is annoying when there’s nothing wrong and someone who is being triggered or in fight or flight mode keeps hounding you. I’ve been on both sides. However, I’ve noticed in my lifetime which is pretty long, lol - that when someone is unusually quiet around me, especially a partner that they do have a problem with me and I do have reason to be concerned. They are getting aggravated because they are defensive because they know I know that something is wrong. They are in the wrong for not being honest. That has just been my experience though. Of course, sitting there and continually asking that person if something is wrong after they refuse to cop to it the first time, doesn’t help and just makes everything worse. So I hope that makes sense. Thanks for another great video!

I am fat and have been since childhood and my mum would look at girls my size and say how fat and gross they were. Sometimes id point out that the " fat ugly girl" is the same size as me and she'd say " oh no i don't think so, do you think? "

Ohh my mom LOVED torturing me about my weight. She bought cute cloths "for me" but when I tried them on they didn't fit. She would take them and wear them because they were her size. She would say "Oh you would be so pretty if you weren't so fat." And I wasn't allowed to eat much at parties because she would loudly embarrass me to the point I still fear eating in public. "My God, stop shoveling food into your mouth." "Why are you such an embarrassment?" When I did go cloths shopping I was only allowed the old ladies section. My dad tried to help me find cloths. The problem was I wasn't even that over weight. I was a size XL to XXL. I gained weight over one Summer rapidly too. It wasn't because of food or laziness. I actually had developed PCOS and instead of my mom seeing something was obviously wrong, she just wanted to have a reason to torture me. To control me.
